Rakta Mokshana or Bloodletting is one of the Panchakarma therapy which includes extracting blood from specific site mentioned for specific chronic disease. By this therapy the vitiated doshas are removed from the body along with the blood resulting in purified body and relief in Symptoms. Types: 1. Shrunga Prayoga: Use of horns for therapy 2. Jalouka Prayoga: Leech therapy 3. Alabu Prayoga: Cupping therapy 4. Pracchana Karma: Scarping the skin with sharp Object. 5. Sira Vedhana: Removal of Blood by puncturing the skin at a particular site. 6. Yantra Prayoga: Ghati Yantra is used to extract the blood from the body. Indications: Acute Pain at Any site Gout Psoriasis white patches Skin diseases Headaches Chronic edema Inflammation varicose veins, abscesses, alopecia, high blood pressure, various inflammations and conditions associated with spleen and liver.
